Hakata skills shine!
I can hear the heartbeat !

The charm of Hakata's culture is also the charm of the people of Hakata who create and support it.
While introducing the charm of Hakata's "festivals", "food" and "crafts" in a fun way,
It is a museum where you can feel the “heart of Hakata people” that lives in that culture.

You can experience "Hakata's three major festivals".

We will introduce Hakata's seasonal festivals and their history, such as Hakata Gion Yamakasa, Hakozaki Shrine Hojoya, and Hakata Dontaku Port Festival. By introducing various customs and ceremonies that have been firmly passed down by the people who support the festival, you can also feel the history of the Hakata people, who have an impression of being generous and respect the etiquette.

  • "Hakata Gion Yamakasa" is a summer tradition of Hakata. You can watch valuable archive footage of Oiyama no Kushida.
  • You can take a commemorative photo with the Yamakasa photos and panels in the background.
  • The exhibition also introduces Hojoya, a festival representative of Hakata that has continued for over 1,000 years.
  • The Hojokai Ohajiki, a talisman made by a Hakata doll craftsman for the Hojokai in the same process as the Hakata dolls, is also a pun to ward off misfortune.

You can learn as if you were “laddering” the food stalls.

Mizutaki, Hakata ramen, motsunabe, and karashi mentaiko are well-known Hakata foods, but other familiar foods have also been created. Through the food of Hakata, you can feel the rich creativity and wisdom of Hakata people.

  • This area introduces the food culture of Fukuoka and Hakata.
  • The famous tonkotsu ramen, mizutaki, motsunabe, and sesame mackerel are on display.
  • You can learn about the food that originated in Hakata.
  • We also introduce it in the video.

While introducing the charm of Hakata's handicrafts, we will also introduce the aesthetics of the Hakata people who support them.

In addition to exhibitions of Hakata crafts, you can also see special exhibitions of artworks and paintings.

  • "Hakata Magemono" has been dedicated to Hakozakigu Shrine since ancient times.
  • "Hakata doll" is a nationally designated traditional craft with a history of over 400 years.
  • The Hakata Koma has a strong rotational force and can keep spinning for a long time.
  • "Hakata-ori" is famous as one of the three major textiles in Japan.
